I blog on Brain-Based Learning, Metacognition, EdTech, and Social-Emotional Learning. I am the author of the Crush School Series of Books, which help students understand how their brains process information and learn. I also wrote The Power of Three: How to Simplify Your Life to Amplify Your Personal and Professional Success, but be warned that it's meant for adults who want to thrive and are comfortable with four letter words.

More than just a simple twist on Cornell Note-Taking, the Focus Method is a teaching method that supports teaching using "best practices" and a focused learning approach.

The template makes use of Dates, Page Numbers, Objectives, Cornell Notes, Summary, and a Homework/Test Learning Planner.

The Focus Method prompts the students to write down objectives to initiate focus and purpose for learning, provides ample space for note-taking, and makes use of multiple ways to process information. In addition, students are given space for questioning, setting learning goals, and planning for homework and exams.
