Just Because I Love You
Whenever I take a look at a picture of you I can’t help but smile.
I love you.
I want to be the best father I can be.
I want to still have the courage to say I love you when you’re 13, 23, 33, 43, and 53.
Yeah I plan on being around at least that long.
And I want to be able to say these words to you whenever I want to.
You came to us early, but just in time.
You were little, but brought with you so much happiness.
You looked fragile, but were strong beyond belief.
I love you son.
And I always will.
There are times when things are hard. But then I think of you and life is easy. Life is good.
There may be times when we are in disagreement. At odds. Angry.
I don’t know what the future holds…
But it doesn’t matter, because my love for you is unconditional.
There will be times I will fail you.
I know you will forgive me, because I will own my mistakes.
Even when it’s hard and I’m proud…
I will remember this promise. Put aside my ego. Say I’m sorry.
I want to remember this promise, because I love you.
You are turning 3.
I can’t help but smile whenever I think of you and your happy beautiful face.
I hope that will never change.
No matter how withered I am and how much a man you are...
I hope I will always have the courage to look at you and tell you that I love you.
I am saying all this to you now, because I don’t ever want to forget.
I’m writing this letter now, because when the times are tough, I might not be able to say it.
But I know I will always hold these words in my heart.
I will hold you in my heart to the end.
Every time. Always. Forever.
Just because I love you.
